The Lagos State Government has sealed a public toilet at the Mazamaza bus stop in the Amuwo Odofin area of the state for discharging sewage and wastewater into public drainage.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his official X account on Wednesday.
Wahab wrote, “The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026, sealed off a public toilet at Mazamaza bus stop in Amuwo Odofin for deliberate discharge of raw sewage and wastewater into public drainage system via a pumping machine, thereby constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and threat to public health.”
He also encouraged residents to ensure proper waste management and hygiene practices to support public health and promote environmental sustainability.
“#followlasg enjoins residents to adopt proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to support public health and promote environmental sustainability, as any act of environmental nuisance will attract appropriate sanctions and prosecution,” he added.
