The Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has expressed readiness to collaborate with all Federal Government-owned schools located in the state to strengthen educational standards and enhance student security across public schools.
In a statement on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, made the position known when the Commandant of Police Secondary School, Igboora, CSP Ogunlade Fisayo, and her management team paid a courtesy visit to his office.
Olayiwola commended the commandant for the visit and said, “The Ministry of Education remains the central coordinating body for educational development in the state.”
“Although some institutions are owned by the Federal Government, many of the students are indigenes of Oyo State, making collaboration between federal and state institutions essential,” he added.
He said such synergy was necessary to ensure the academic success, welfare and security of students across all schools within the state.
The commissioner pledged the ministry’s commitment to sustaining cordial relationships between federal- and state-owned institutions for the benefit of students and the overall advancement of education in Oyo State.
Earlier, the Commandant of Police Secondary School, Igboora, CSP Ogunlade Fisayo, said the purpose of the visit was to familiarise herself with the commissioner and seek greater recognition and publicity for the school because of its location.
She said that out of the five Police Secondary Schools in the South-West, the Igboora school is the second largest, with a student population of more than 750 drawn from both civilian and police families.
CSP Ogunlade expressed appreciation to the commissioner for the warm reception and pledged the school’s management commitment to collaborating with the state government to promote quality education and the academic development of students.
