The Kwara State Government has commenced the payment of March salaries to civil servants ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The development was announced in a statement shared on the government’s official Facebook page on Tuesday.
The move, according to the state government, aimed at easing financial pressure on workers during the festive period.
The statement emphasised the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and sustaining a tradition of timely salary payments, especially during major festive periods.
“Eid al-Fitr: In line with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s longstanding tradition, the Kwara State Government has commenced the payment of March salary to the civil servants in the state to enable them to meet their needs, during the forthcoming Eid celebration.
“Governor AbdulRazaq has continued to maintain a leadership style that puts smiles on the faces of Kwarans, including civil servants,” the statement read.
The early disbursement is expected to bring relief to workers who typically face increased financial responsibilities during festive seasons.
With salaries paid ahead of time, civil servants can conveniently cater to essential needs such as food items, clothing, transportation, and family commitments associated with the celebration.
Eid-el-Fitr, also known as the festival marking the end of Ramadan, is a significant period for Muslims worldwide.
It follows a month of fasting, prayers, and reflection, and is usually celebrated with special prayers, acts of charity, and communal gatherings among family and friends.
