Soldiers kill two terrorists, arrest suspected kidnapper in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have neutralised two suspected terrorists and arrested a suspected kidnapper during separate security operations in Plateau State.

The Media Information Officer of the taskforce, Chinonso Oteh, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Oteh noted that the operations were carried out on April 4, 2026, in Wase Local Government Area.

According to him, the operation involved a series of clearance missions targeting known insurgent corridors across Babangida, Adua and Bokayi villages within the Dutsen Zaki forest.

Oteh said troops engaged suspected terrorists in a fierce firefight along the Babangida–Adua road, leading to the neutralisation of two suspects, while others fled into the forest with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

He added that troops recovered arms and ammunition from the scene, including a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a cutlass.

In another operation, troops stationed in the Namu District of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area intercepted four suspected terrorists after acting on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements of armed individuals.

During the search, the suspects were found with 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Oteh said troops subsequently moved to dismantle the suspects’ hideout but came under heavy fire from their associates.

“Amid the ensuing chaos, three of the four apprehended suspects attempted to escape and were subsequently neutralised by the adversary’s own gunfire,” he stated.

In a related development, troops in Shendam Local Government Area, working with local residents, arrested a suspected kidnapper at Gidan Mangoro village.

The suspect is believed to be linked to a kidnapping incident that occurred in the community on April 3, 2026, and is currently in custody for further investigation.

Oteh said the operations underscore the commitment of the Nigerian military and local partners to restoring peace and security in Plateau State.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies as clearance operations continue across the state.

Recall that in March, troops of Operation Hadin Kai repelled a Boko Haram attack in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

They killed three high-profile commanders and over 80 insurgents.
