Sokoto 2027: Dan’iya promises open-door, inclusive govt

The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has pledged to run an open-door, transparent and people-centered administration if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Dan’iya made the promise on Saturday while receiving leaders of the ADC from Sokoto’s three senatorial zones who paid him a Sallah courtesy visit at his residence.

Addressing the delegation, the ADC flag bearer said his vision for Sokoto was anchored on accountability, consultation and responsiveness to the needs of the people.

“Government exists to serve the people, not the other way round,” Dan’iya said. “Our administration will maintain an open-door policy with a listening ear, ensuring that governance reflects the genuine needs, priorities and aspirations of the citizens rather than the desires of a privileged few.”

He stressed that sustainable development could only be achieved when government remains closely connected to the people and actively engages stakeholders in decision-making processes..

“In a democratic setting, the people are the government. Without their trust, support and participation, sustainable development cannot be achieved. Leadership must be compassionate, accessible and responsive to the concerns of the citizens,” he added.

The former deputy governor said Sokoto State deserved a government that prioritises public welfare, security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and economic growth.

According to him, the ADC is prepared to offer credible leadership capable of addressing the challenges confronting the state and improving the living conditions of residents.

Dan’iya also urged party leaders and supporters across the three senatorial districts to remain united and committed to strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 polls.

“The task before us is to build a stronger and more inclusive political movement that reflects the hopes and aspirations of our people,” he said.

“We must continue to engage communities, promote our vision and demonstrate that better governance is possible.”

The governorship candidate expressed confidence that Nigerians are increasingly seeking political alternatives that can deliver effective governance and economic opportunities.

He thanked the visiting delegation for the Sallah homage and their continued loyalty to the party, assuring them that the ADC would remain committed to promoting good governance, peace, development and social justice.

Speaking on behalf of the visitors, leaders from the three senatorial zones, led by Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, Hon. Abubakar Sadik Sanyinna and Hon. Kabiru Hali, congratulated Dan’iya on the successful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and reaffirmed their support for his governorship ambition.

The leaders pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization and political engagement across their respective zones to strengthen the party’s structures and enhance its chances in the 2027 general elections.

They also commended Dan’iya’s leadership style, accessibility and vision for the state, expressing confidence in his ability to provide purposeful leadership and drive development across Sokoto.

The meeting was attended by the ADC State Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu, members of the State Executive Committee, party stakeholders and supporters from across the state.
