popular singer, Dapo Oyebabanjo, aka D’banj, recently marked his 46th birthday in grand style with a star-studded celebration in Lagos that drew admiration from fans, colleagues and industry stakeholders.
The soirée, held at Casa45, brought together family members, friends, business associates, content creators, and fellow entertainers to celebrate the award-winning singer, whose career has spanned more than two decades.
The birthday boy made a striking entrance in a white Rolls-Royce Ghost with a black hood, arriving in a coordinated black outfit that reflected his signature flair. He appeared in high spirits as he greeted guests and well-wishers throughout the evening.
Among the notable personalities in attendance were Timaya, Carter Efe, Trinity Guy and Berri Tiga. The event featured music performances, tributes, and moments celebrating D’banj’s contributions to the entertainment industry.
One of the highlights of the night was a performance by the celebrant himself, as D’banj took to the stage to entertain his guests with some of the energy and showmanship that have defined his career.
Another memorable moment came from veteran artiste manager and founder of List Entertainment, Sunday Are, who thrilled guests with a lively konga performance that added a traditional touch to the festivities.
The celebration also sparked conversation online following reports that some Carter Efe, Trinity Guy and Berri Tiga received car gifts from the singer. However, Efe later took to social media to claim that the organisers asked him to submit his Bank Verification Number and National Identification Number before he could be given the car. In a series of posts, he went on a lengthy tirade, verbally abusing D’banj and Sunday Are.
Born on June 9, 1980, D’banj remains one of the most recognisable figures in African music. He rose to prominence in the mid-2000s through Mo’ Hits Records, which he co-founded with producer, Don Jazzy, delivering hits such as Tongolo, Why Me, Fall in Love, and Gbono Feli Feli.
His international breakthrough came with Oliver Twist, which achieved widespread success across Africa and entered the UK charts, helping to expand the global reach of Afrobeats during its formative years on the international stage.
He is also the founder of the Creative, Reality and Entertainment, Arts, Music platform, which is described as the “first African-owned, direct-to-consumer super fan platform for creatives”.
