The 6 Battalion Ibagwa of the Nigerian Army has reassured residents of Abak Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State that there is no cause for alarm as they have commenced the disposal of unserviceable ammunition and explosives at the 6Bn Range Area.
The disposal exercise began today, Monday, August 19, 2024, and is expected to continue until Thursday, August 22.
In a statement released by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Adebowale Adejimi, titled “Demolition of Unserviceable Ordinances,” it was emphasized that the demolition process is planned to occur at the 6 Bn Range Area in Abak LGA from August 19 to August 22, 2024.
The statement further advises the residents of Abak LGA to avoid the exercise area during this period and not to be alarmed by the sound of explosives, as adequate safety measures have been put in place in the range area and its surroundings.
