Anambra shuts school over bullying of seven-year-old pupil

The Anambra State Government has taken swift action by ordering the immediate closure of Upcoming Star International School in Awka following reports of a seven-year-old pupil being bullied. The state Commissioner for Education revealed that the decision was made after learning that the pupil’s classmate had allegedly caused her to break her leg.

Upon questioning the school’s proprietor, it was discovered that the school was operating without proper approval. The commissioner emphasized that the pupil’s injury resulted from bullying by her classmate.

The governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has directed the sealing of the school to prevent further incidents in unapproved educational institutions. The commissioner advised parents against enrolling their children in unaccredited schools and warned that proprietors of such establishments would face legal consequences for violating state laws.
