Cops, driver killed in attempted abduction of Delta lawmaker’s wife

In Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, a distressing incident occurred where gunmen reportedly killed two policemen and a driver. The gunmen were suspected kidnappers attempting to abduct Mrs. Christy Uroye, the wife of a lawmaker from Warri South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly. Eyewitnesses recounted how the abductors shot the three victims during the attempt to kidnap Mrs. Uroye while she was being escorted in an SUV along Jakpa road.

Fortunately, the abductors’ escape plan was foiled when their vehicle crashed in the chaos, leading to Mrs. Uroye’s rescue. She is currently receiving medical attention at a nearby private hospital. Eyewitnesses described how residents in the area had to flee to safety during the attack to avoid being harmed.

The Delta State Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the operation was deemed unsuccessful. The police recovered three AK-47 rifles from the suspects’ vehicle. A family source, speaking anonymously, confirmed the accident involving the abductors’ vehicle and their captive, with Mrs. Uroye now under medical care in a local private hospital. However, it remains unclear whether the abductors were apprehended in the aftermath of the incident.
