Rivers gets new NSCDC commandant

The newly appointed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Rivers State, Joachim Okafor, emphasized the need for cooperation among all stakeholders to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure. Okafor highlighted the importance of collaboration during a ceremony at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Port Harcourt. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and promised to uphold the Corps’ integrity with dedication.

Okafor stressed that protecting national assets crucial for the economy is a key responsibility of the Corps, achievable through effective partnerships with various stakeholders. He outlined plans to collaborate with the Government, security agencies, community leaders, NGOs, youth, and the media to combat crimes like oil theft and environmental degradation in the state.

Acknowledging Okafor’s experience and dedication, Zone L Commander Ayinla Olowo praised the new State Commandant’s capabilities. Olowo clarified that officer postings are meant to enhance performance, not as punishment. He also commended the former Commandant, Basil Igwebueze, and urged current officers to uphold discipline, loyalty, and dedication to national service.
