A group of concerned graduates from the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun State have submitted a petition to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, regarding the management of funds by the university’s alumni leadership. This action was prompted by the recent uproar over a substantial increase in the alumni membership fee.
The petition requests transparency regarding the allocation of funds collected by the alumni association over the past five years. The graduates are questioning the necessity of the fee hike, emphasizing that it places undue financial burden on members and lacks tangible benefits. They are also calling for the immediate reversal of the increased fee.
The graduates highlighted their concerns in the petition, expressing doubts about the justification for the fee increment and the projects funded by the association. They are demanding an audited financial report covering the last five years to be made public within three days from the date of the petition. Additionally, they insist on the removal of the N20,000 fee from the payment portal.
The alumni association’s Public Relations Officer has stated that an official response to the petition will be issued promptly.
