A former Vice President has expressed concern over the rising insecurity in the Northern region, highlighting its impact on agriculture, education, and health. He voiced support for the establishment of the League of Northern Democrats as a platform to address these challenges.
During a meeting with the League’s leadership, the former Vice President emphasized the need to address the aspirations of the people in the region, urging collaboration across political affiliations for sustainable peace and development.
The League of Northern Democrats, initiated by an elder statesman, recently appointed key figures to lead the organization in tackling issues like insecurity, poverty, and unemployment in the North.
Various prominent individuals, including a former Chief of Army Staff, have commended the League’s efforts in addressing regional challenges and have pledged their support for its initiatives.
The League is set to hold a significant summit in Kaduna, with the aim of addressing critical issues affecting the Northern states. It aims to work independently of political or religious affiliations to assist in overcoming the challenges faced by the region.
