Edo poll: Court summons Okpebholo over alleged false date of birth

A Magistrate’s Court in Abuja has summoned a candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Edo State governorship election for allegedly providing conflicting dates of birth on his nomination forms submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The candidate is accused of making a false statement on oath regarding his date of birth. The court document requested his appearance before Magistrate Abubakar Mukhtar on September 20 at 12 noon.

The case was filed by an Edo State indigene who alleged that the candidate claimed different birth dates in documents submitted to INEC. The complaint includes details of the discrepancies in the candidate’s statements regarding his date of birth.
