Anambra LG election a fraud, offensive, says LP

The Labour Party in Anambra State has rejected the nomination of certain members and current Local Government Transition members of another party as their candidates for the upcoming Local Government election. They have decided not to participate in the election, calling it a “sham” and criticizing the election process as fraudulent.

In a press release signed by the LP’s State Publicity Secretary, the party accused the Anambra State Government and the State Independent Electoral Commission of orchestrating a flawed election process. They claim that the election has been tainted by candidates affiliated with another party and labeled the publication of these candidates by ANSIEC as misleading.

The LP Anambra chapter has taken legal action against the government and ANSIEC, challenging the legitimacy of the election. They emphasized their non-participation in the election and expressed their lack of trust in the electoral process.

The Labour Party condemned ANSIEC for violating electoral laws and accused them of undermining due process and electoral fairness. They described the actions of ANSIEC and the government as a criminal assault on the electoral process and called for the election to be postponed to ensure a proper and lawful process in the future.

Despite their criticism, the Labour Party extended an olive branch to the government, urging them to reschedule the election for a more legitimate and organized process where all political parties can participate meaningfully. The party reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and fighting against what they perceive as an unlawful election process.
