Allegations have been made by the Peoples Democratic Party regarding possible plans by the Presidency to influence the outcome of the upcoming governorship election in Edo State in favor of the All Progressives Congress. The PDP claims that the Presidency has allocated $2 million to sway officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, and voters.
In response, the APC has refuted these claims, dismissing them as baseless accusations. The PDP further alleges that the $2 million was given to the APC’s governorship candidate.
Additionally, the PDP accuses the Presidency of directing security agencies to disrupt elections in PDP strongholds to manipulate the results in favor of the APC. The PDP asserts its readiness to win the election through peaceful and fair means, expressing confidence in their candidate’s ability to secure a significant portion of the votes.
The party calls on the President to uphold democratic values and ensure a transparent electoral process. On the other hand, an official from the APC has criticized the PDP’s allegations, highlighting the party’s history of electoral misconduct.
