The Imo State Police Command successfully thwarted an attack on the Njaba Divisional Headquarters by a group of suspected hoodlums believed to have ties to a banned organization and its armed unit. The assailants, arriving in three SUVs, launched a violent assault on the headquarters using gunfire. In response, the brave police operatives swiftly defended the headquarters, resulting in the neutralization of three attackers. The remaining assailants, who were injured, fled the scene. The police recovered weapons and vehicles during the operation.
The state Commissioner of Police is leading efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. He commended the operatives for their courage and assured the public of the command’s commitment to maintaining internal security and dealing decisively with any threats to public peace.
In a separate incident, gunmen attacked and killed two vigilante members and a policeman at Isiala Mbano Local Government Area headquarters, setting the Obowo Police Station on fire and damaging vehicles parked at the council premises.
