The government has confirmed the security of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) database and assured civil servants of its integrity. This assurance was shared by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation through a statement from the Director of Press and Public Relations in Abuja.
Reports alleging a breach of the IPPIS Payroll Validation section were addressed, with the OAGF emphasizing its commitment to a secure personnel and payroll management system. The office clarified that no data is stored on its website and that sensitive information is not compromised through it.
Emphasizing the implementation of an ICT Security Policy aligned with global cybersecurity practices, the OAGF assured the protection of government systems’ data. The IPPIS Validation Portal, used for employee information updates, was shut down after its intended use to prevent unauthorized access.
The OAGF acknowledged the significance of the IPPIS to Nigerian workers and highlighted the measures in place to address any operational issues. Workers were advised to follow official procedures to resolve any discrepancies in their salaries promptly.
