In recent military operations across Birnin Gwari and Giwa Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, Nigerian Army troops successfully neutralized four bandits and rescued 20 kidnapped individuals. Simultaneously, soldiers in Plateau State apprehended five gunrunners, including a female, in the Jos North Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, troops from Operation Forest Sanity and Operation Whirl Punch conducted effective missions leading to the elimination of bandits and the liberation of kidnapped victims.
In one operation in Alawa, Birnin-Gwari LGA, troops encountered bandits, resulting in the neutralization of two criminals on the spot. Recovered items included firearms, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication equipment. Another mission in Polewire village saw troops responding to a distress call, rescuing 20 individuals kidnapped by bandits.
Governor Uba Sani commended the security forces for their successful operations, praising their dedication and courage. The General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. MLD Saraso, was acknowledged for the breakthroughs in the Birnin Gwari and Giwa areas.
In Plateau State, troops from Operation Safe Haven arrested five gunrunners in the Bauchi Road community, with arms and ammunition recovered during the raid. The suspects are being interrogated to gather intelligence for further dismantling of the gunrunning network.
Overall, the operations reflect the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of citizens in various regions.
