Osun mortuary attendants, five others arrested for selling human parts

The Osun State Police Command recently announced the arrest of seven individuals for engaging in the sale of human body parts and water used for bathing corpses within the state. Among those apprehended were two mortuary attendants, Johnson Daniel and Adetunji Okunade. The arrests were made following a tip-off from a concerned citizen, leading to the apprehension of other suspects involved in the illicit activities.

The suspects were found to be selling remains of corpses and water used in bathing corpses to native doctors for ritual purposes. Substances suspected to be human skulls were discovered in the homes of some of the suspects during police searches. Additionally, incriminating items such as a female pant and a notebook with ritual instructions were recovered from the residences of other suspects.

In a separate incident, three individuals were arrested for advocating for the Yoruba Nation within the state. Oluwafemi Fagbuyi was apprehended while addressing people at Obada Market in Ikire, encouraging them to renounce their allegiance to Nigeria and displaying the Yoruba Nation’s flag. Further investigations led to the arrest of Joy Faseyiku and Alabede Janet, who were subsequently charged in the Federal High Court following the completion of the investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
