Authorities in Lagos State have expressed concern about a potential building collapse at the Mopol 20 Barracks in Onigbongbo, Ikeja.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency is preparing for an emergency evacuation and demolition of a section of the barracks known as Block 3.
A statement released by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, mentioned that an assessment by their response team revealed the precarious state of some parts of the structure.
To prevent any potential harm to lives or property, the building and adjacent structures will be evacuated promptly.
“The agency has initiated a response plan that includes assessment, safe evacuation, and controlled demolition of the affected area,” the statement explained.
The statement also emphasized the proactive approach being taken by the administration to address the building’s condition and avoid any secondary incidents.
