The team from Delta has been crowned champions of the 8th National Youth Games for the second consecutive time.
The state secured a total of 111 medals, comprising 46 gold, 31 silver, and 34 bronze, earning them the top spot at the closing ceremony held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
Following closely behind was Team Lagos with 26 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze medals, while Team Edo claimed the third spot with 18 gold, 13 silver, and 28 bronze medals.
It is noteworthy that Delta had previously hosted the 7th edition of the Games and topped the medal tally with 51 gold, 34 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
They have maintained their winning streak at the National Youth Games since 2016.
Notably, 35 states and the FCT received medals this year, with Ebonyi State being the exception compared to about 27 states last year. Rivers was the only state that did not participate.
