Security personnel were spotted setting up roadblocks in Benin as early as 6:00 a.m. in preparation for the Edo governorship election starting at 8:00 a.m. Security officials were reported to have begun stopping and searching vehicles, as well as questioning occupants to ensure safety and order during the election. Some bus drivers managed to avoid these roadblocks to bypass security checks for quicker travel. Military presence was noted along Ring Road, particularly at Sapele Road, Forestry Junction, and Sapele Road axes, with an armored tank stationed in the city center. Additional security measures were observed at Okida Road, Ekewaun Road, and around the INEC office at Ikpoba Hill. Roadblocks were also present at the Agbado Market area and sections of Akpakpava and Sapele Roads on Ring Road. Despite the heavy security, there were minimal vehicular movements, with some individuals, likely voters, seen walking along the roads.
