The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the unfortunate incident where one individual, Nwachukwu Ikechukwu, passed away due to inhaling generator fumes at their home in the Shogoye area of Owode-Egba. Ikechukwu and his wife had turned on the generator in their living room late at night, and a neighbor discovered them unconscious. The neighbor raised the alarm, prompting others, including the community Chairman, to report the situation to the police.
Upon investigation, the police found no signs of violence on the deceased. Ikechukwu lost his life in the incident, while his wife, Oyin Falodun, who was rushed to the hospital, regained consciousness and shared her account. She mentioned that her husband insisted on keeping the generator running until they fell asleep, attributing the tragedy to the generator running out of fuel.
Falodun recounted finding both of them on the floor, with her husband trying to get up before collapsing. She is currently recovering at Ore Ofe Hospital, Owode-Egba, while Ikechukwu’s body awaits autopsy at the General Hospital, Owode-Egba.
