In a recent development, Edward Masha, a former Commissioner for Water Resources in Kaduna State, has been elected as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state. The election took place at the Kaduna Trade Fair Center, where thousands of party delegates participated. Masha emerged victorious along with six others who secured various positions through a unanimous vote by the congress delegates.
During the election, Masha garnered a total of 2,123 votes, replacing Felix Hassan Hyat who had completed two terms in office. Other elected officials include Godiya Lolo as the Women Leader, Bar. Khalid A. Khalid as the Legal Adviser, Garba Ahmed Usman Garkuwa as the Vice Chairman Central, and Aliyu Bello as the Financial Secretary, among others.
In his acceptance speech, Masha expressed his commitment to restructuring the party, revisiting its core values, and engaging with women and youth members to strengthen the party. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the party, urging members to work towards the success of the party in the upcoming Local Government polls.
Former Chairman Felix Hyat urged all contestants to accept the election results gracefully, emphasizing the need for unity within the party. Despite some challenges during the election process, the electoral committee was commended for ensuring a smooth and orderly conduct of the elections.
