A local energy company, in collaboration with a national petroleum company, has successfully carried out the latest edition of its healthcare initiative, Eye Can See, in Imo State. This initiative aimed at providing free eye care services like screenings, surgeries, and eyeglasses distribution to underserved residents over a period of five days, demonstrating the companies’ commitment to enhancing healthcare access in their host communities.
The launch of the Eye Can See program in Imo State marked a significant milestone in the companies’ ongoing efforts to improve healthcare outreach, which began in 2012. Since its inception, the initiative has impacted over 105,000 individuals, conducted 4,560 life-changing eye surgeries, and distributed more than 51,000 reading glasses. The primary goal is to prevent blindness, detect eye diseases early, and improve the quality of life for recipients.
During the event, company representatives highlighted their dedication to holistic community development, emphasizing that they are more than just operators but also partners in progress. They stressed the importance of initiatives like Eye Can See in delivering tangible benefits to communities and extending their commitment beyond business operations.
