In preparation for the upcoming Local Government election in Jigawa on October 5, the State Police Command is determined to eliminate notorious thugs to ensure a peaceful election process. The State Police Commissioner, A.T. Abdullahi, emphasized the need to address the disruptive activities of thugs during elections. Measures will be taken to identify and apprehend troublemakers before the election to maintain order. Consultative meetings have been held with relevant parties, including the State Independent Electoral Commission and state officials, to promote a violence-free election. A peace accord will be signed by all candidates and political party leaders to pledge to uphold peaceful conduct during the election. The police will employ proactive security strategies to prevent any disruptions and uphold the state’s reputation as one of the most peaceful in the country.
