The Anambra State Police Command recently made significant progress in combating criminal activities in the state. Two suspects were apprehended, and a bag containing gunpowder and ammunition was recovered through intelligence-driven patrols conducted by a joint security task force. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the arrests were made following an operation in different locations across the state.
SP Ikenga explained that during a patrol in the Pillar-Pole area of Aguata, a suspect was intercepted carrying bags of garri, which concealed gunpowder. It was revealed that the suspect was transporting both groceries and gunpowder intended for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) for a criminal gang.
In another operation, the Special Anti-Cultism Squad raided a criminal hideout in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of a suspect named Nelson Wisdom. A locally made pistol and ammunition were recovered during the operation.
