The Governor of Delta State recently distributed agricultural inputs to 6,020 farmers to support agricultural growth and food security in the state. The initiative aims to enhance food production and strengthen the economy by providing essential resources to farmers.
The Governor emphasized the importance of agriculture in the state’s development strategy and highlighted the need to empower farmers for sustainable growth. The distribution of inputs is part of a broader initiative to boost agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
Additionally, a partnership with the Africa Union Development Agency was mentioned, where N1 billion has been approved to support 2,000 farmers in food production, livestock, and aquaculture. This collaboration aims to further empower smallholder farmers in Delta State.
Beneficiaries were encouraged to make efficient use of the distributed inputs to increase productivity and contribute to the agricultural sector’s growth. The Commissioner for Economic Planning highlighted the importance of empowering farmers to enhance productivity in various agricultural activities like poultry, fish farming, cassava cultivation, and vegetable farming.
He also urged citizens to engage in urban farming to boost productivity and address rising food prices. The state government’s commitment to supporting farmers and promoting food security was reiterated throughout the distribution event.
