APGA faults Soludo’s suspension threat

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Working Committee supporting Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, issued a warning to the party’s factional chairman, Edozie Njoku, regarding threats of suspension over alleged anti-party activities. The committee emphasized that Njoku does not have the authority to punish the party’s executive. This caution follows Njoku’s accusations against Soludo for not acknowledging his leadership and efforts to restore unity within the party.

Speaking to the press in Abuja, APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, advised Governor Soludo to disregard Njoku’s actions, which he described as attempts to divert attention from governance. Ezeokenwa stressed that Njoku would face consequences for his actions and condemned his statements against Governor Soludo and other party members as baseless.

The APGA national chairman also criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allegedly showing bias in the party’s internal crisis. Ezeokenwa questioned INEC’s upload of names not affiliated with the legitimate APGA leadership during recent political processes, challenging the commission to provide a court order recognizing Njoku and his supporters as national officers of APGA, which they have failed to do so far.

Ezeokenwa reiterated that legal actions have disproved Njoku’s claims to APGA leadership, with courts affirming the legitimacy of the National Convention held in Awka, Anambra State, in May 2019. The party remains focused on serving the people and ensuring fair and transparent local government elections despite distractions caused by internal disputes.
