The government of Anambra State has declared a movement restriction throughout the state for the upcoming local government elections on Saturday.
In an official statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, it was announced that the restriction will be in effect from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday.
Mefor emphasized that the restriction is necessary to facilitate a peaceful and orderly conduct of the local government election in the state.
According to Mefor, “Residents of Anambra are hereby notified of the movement restriction across the state on Saturday, 28th September 2024, from 8 am to 4 pm, as per the request of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.”
“The purpose of this restriction is to ensure a tranquil and efficient process during the Anambra State Local Government Council Election.”
“Exceptions to the restriction include individuals on election duties and essential services such as ANSIEC officials, electoral observers, accredited journalists, medical emergency response teams, firefighters, etc.”
He urged everyone to adhere to the directive for the sake of peace, cautioning that non-compliance would lead to legal consequences.
