An incident involving an Acura Sport Utility Vehicle colliding with a herd of cattle resulted in the death of two cows and significant damage to the vehicle. The accident took place at Iyana-Oworo, inward Ogudu, where the cows were crossing the highway. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the details and mentioned that the vehicle was cleared from the road by LASTMA officers to ensure smooth traffic flow and handed over to the police for further investigation.
In a separate event, five individuals sustained injuries in a motor accident on the Ifako Bridge en route to the Ogudu area of Lagos State. The accident involved a commercial Mazda bus and a mini-bus. Investigations indicated that the driver of the Mazda bus was distracted while driving, leading to the loss of control and subsequent collision. The driver’s distraction, coupled with sudden brake failure, resulted in the injury of one male and four female passengers from the Mazda bus. The victims received prompt medical attention from the Lagos State Ambulance Service and were transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre near the Toll Gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy for the victims and emphasized the importance of road safety for all motorists, especially commercial bus operators, urging them to prioritize safe driving practices and remain vigilant on the roads.
