Lawyer killed in Anambra crash after depositing mother’s body in morgue

A tragic road accident occurred along the Awka-Enugu Expressway in Anambra State, resulting in the death of a lawyer known as Okechukwu. The incident took place when his vehicle collided with an abandoned stationary truck on Sunday night, causing it to somersault into a drainage nearby.

The victim, who had recently laid his late mother to rest in the mortuary, was described by a kinsman as having just welcomed a newborn with his wife. The sudden loss of the lawyer has left his family and friends in shock, highlighting the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of treasuring every moment.

The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary in the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Awka. Residents have criticized traffic officials for not promptly removing the abandoned truck, while the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Commander, Joyce Alexander, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and explained that the truck could not be towed immediately due to its heavy load.

Alexander emphasized the need for public cooperation in reporting accidents and road obstructions, citing the importance of community involvement in ensuring road safety. She mentioned that the FRSC had cordoned off the accident scene with reflective tape to alert other motorists until the truck could be removed the following day.
