The government of Abia State has revealed its intention to boost its revenue generation by exploring investment opportunities within the hospitality sector. The plan involves renovating and upgrading the Enyimba Hotel Aba into a luxurious five-star hotel. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the state government, led by Governor Dr. Alex Otti, and the management of Radisson Blu in Lagos.
The project aims to bring back to life the previously abandoned hotel, with an estimated budget ranging from $25 million to $50 million. The reconstruction is expected to be completed within 24 months. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the hospitality industry in Aba and create around 5000 employment opportunities for the state’s residents.
The state government has allocated funds for the project, emphasizing its commitment to supporting the initiative. The Attorney General of the state assured that efforts would be made to strengthen the relationship with the hotel’s original owners and ensure the success of the venture. Radisson Blu expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and highlighted Nigeria as a key focus for its expansion plans in Africa.
The collaboration between the government and Radisson Blu aims to revitalize the Enyimba Hotel, providing significant benefits to the local community and contributing to the economic growth of the state.
