During a Treasury Board Meeting focusing on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework for 2025-2027 and the 2025 budget in Abeokuta, the governor emphasized the importance of financial prudence as a foundation for sustainable infrastructural development, job creation, and poverty alleviation within the state.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, the Governor highlighted the government’s inclusivity and adherence to best practices in budget preparation. Despite global economic challenges like inflation and supply chain disruptions, the administration has seen significant progress in key sectors. The governor emphasized the state’s economic interconnection with national and global trends and reiterated the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline and investment priorities for sustainable growth.
Recognizing the crucial role of road infrastructure in economic progress, particularly exemplified by the Kajola Inland Dry Port project, the Governor emphasized the necessity of reconstructing the Abeokuta-Ota federal highway for enhanced connectivity and economic growth. Significant investments have been made in technology, patrol vehicles, and security forces to ensure a secure environment for all residents.
Emphasizing the importance of boosting internally generated revenue to finance projects and reduce reliance on federal allocation, the Governor called for unity among stakeholders to support the government’s efforts towards a more prosperous state. The Commissioner for Budget and Planning echoed the administration’s focus on sustainable initiatives for economic growth and development, stressing the importance of transparency, accountability, and collaboration among stakeholders for good governance.
