Governor Dapo Abiodun, in a recent address, urged the newly elected Local Government Chairmen to prioritize providing essential services to the grassroots community. This charge was emphasized during the swearing-in ceremony held at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta.
The Governor stressed the importance of the local government leaders in formulating policies and executing programs that positively influence the lives of their constituents. He emphasized the need for fairness, justice, and an unwavering commitment to development across the state.
Acknowledging the peaceful conduct of the local government elections, Governor Abiodun emphasized the need for the council leaders to align with the state’s development agenda and focus on revenue generation through innovative means.
Furthermore, the Governor urged the new leaders to prioritize security within their councils by collaborating with security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders. He also highlighted the importance of mentoring future leaders to uphold their legacies.
Governor Abiodun condemned the actions of those who attempted to disrupt the local government polls by bringing in illegal security personnel. He assured that thorough investigations were underway and anyone found guilty would face legal consequences.
In response, the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Olasile Odulate, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude for the support and confidence placed in them. He pledged to uphold good governance principles and provide effective leadership to their communities.
