Recent reports suggest that there is a likelihood of the National Chairman of the Labour Party, along with members of the National Working Committee and their supporters, skipping a stakeholders’ meeting organized by Abia State Governor Alex Otti. The decision to boycott the meeting follows the endorsement of Otti’s initiative by the party’s presidential flag bearer, Peter Obi.
A source close to the National Chairman’s camp revealed that none of the NWC members will be present at the meeting, citing a prior warning from the chairman against interference in party affairs. Efforts to confirm this information from the LP National Publicity Secretary and other NWC members were unsuccessful.
Despite an initial disagreement between the National Chairman and Otti regarding a proposed NEC meeting, Otti proceeded to rename it a ‘Stakeholders’ Meeting’, scheduled for a later date. The gathering is expected to include key party figures and officials from various levels of government.
