The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, emphasized the importance of youths acquiring relevant skills to address the issue of unemployment during an event organized by the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies. She highlighted the necessity for youths to focus on developing their skills and talents to enhance their livelihoods, as not everyone may secure traditional employment opportunities. Additionally, she called on political leaders to support youths by organizing skill acquisition programs to promote self-reliance and financial independence, enabling them to contribute positively to society.
The Vice-Chancellor praised the efforts of the entrepreneurship department in grooming students to become future employers. She encouraged students to leverage the skills they have acquired to establish their businesses post-graduation, emphasizing the significance of practical skills in today’s Nigeria.
The Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies emphasized the importance of students developing skills to avoid job-hunting after graduation, stressing the need for students to become self-employed. The event showcased various skills learned by students, including paint making, soap making, photography, baking, fashion design, graphic design, event management, and planning. These skills aim to ensure quality production and marketing, contributing to the provision of quality services to the nation’s citizens.
