Adamawa Assembly screens commissioner nominees March 9

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has received three commissioner nominees from Governor Ahmad Fintiri for screening and confirmation.

The development was disclosed in a post on Tuesday by the Adamawa State Commissioner of Information, James Iliya, via his Facebook page.

In the post, Iliya stated that the House “received 3 names of commissioner nominees for screening and subsequent confirmation,” listing them as Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Muhammed Suleiman (Mubi North LGA), and Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA).

He added that the assembly also received the name of Iliya Gaji (Mubi North LGA) for screening and confirmation as a member of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission.

According to the post, the nominees’ names were contained in separate letters forwarded to the assembly by Governor Fintiri and read on the floor by the Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, who subsequently directed the Clerk to notify the nominees to appear alongside their curriculum vitae on Monday, March 9, for screening.

Online had reported that the first son of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, resigned as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State on Monday.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Abdulaziz Jauro, Adamu confirmed that he formally stepped down after serving two terms in office.

The statement said his resignation letter, dated March 2, 2026, conveyed his “profound gratitude” to Governor Fintiri for the opportunity and confidence reposed in him to serve in what it described as a strategic capacity.
