In a recent incident in Egbedi town, seven individuals were reportedly injured in separate attacks. The Elegbedi of Egbedi, Oba Muideen Azeez, stated that two people were cut with machetes on Wednesday, while five others were shot on Thursday by individuals carrying weapons. The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered an investigation into the matter and assured the people of Egbedi of their safety.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, issued a statement condemning the incident and emphasizing the need for peace and resolution. Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of not politicizing the situation and expressed his commitment to uncovering the truth behind the attacks.
A video circulating on social media captured a group of armed individuals in Egbedi, with mentions of an aide to the Governor, Kazeem Oriade. Oriade, when contacted, claimed that he and his aides were attacked by Egbedi residents while passing through the town. He recounted the incident, stating that his vehicle was shot at and some of his team members sustained injuries during the confrontation.
The Governor’s office is actively investigating the situation to restore calm and ensure the safety of the community. The priority is to address the conflict through peaceful means and prevent further escalation.
