A commitment to support aircraft financing for Nigerian airlines was made by Afreximbank following a successful meeting at the Aviation Economic Conference in Dublin, Ireland. The announcement was made by Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja. The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders, discussed opportunities for aircraft financing for Nigerian airlines.
During the meeting, Afreximbank, represented by its Director and Global Head of Project and Asset-Based Finance, Helen Brume, expressed willingness to collaborate with Nigeria on aircraft financing. The bank highlighted its experience in supporting airlines across Africa and announced plans to launch a leasing subsidiary to provide African airlines, including Nigerian carriers, with access to dry-leased aircraft.
Boeing’s Senior Director of Finance, Lereece Rose, commended Nigeria’s efforts to enhance its aviation ecosystem and improve access to aircraft financing. The Minister emphasized the importance of partnerships to facilitate growth in the aviation industry, and Afreximbank confirmed its readiness to work with the Nigerian government.
A committee has been formed to follow up on the discussions and ensure that the partnership leads to actionable solutions for Nigerian airlines.
