Again, DHQ denies plan of French military base in Nigeria

The Defense Headquarters has once again denied rumors about the French military planning to establish a base in Nigeria. These claims were refuted by the Director of Defense Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, who labeled them as false and misleading.

The denial came in response to allegations made by a human rights activist, Mahdi Shehu, who criticized the government for allegedly allowing French military officers to enter Borno State for the purpose of setting up a base. Shehu’s claims were dismissed as fake and mischievous by the Defense Headquarters.

The Director of Defense Media Operations emphasized that the Armed Forces of Nigeria have not received any French soldiers in Maiduguri for the establishment of a military base. This statement aimed to clarify the situation and put an end to the circulating speculations.

In conclusion, the Defense Headquarters urged the public to disregard such claims and assured that the military would continue to fulfill its duties professionally in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
