Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State expressed his condolences to the victims of a tragic fire outbreak at Kara Market’s timber shade, which resulted in significant property loss. During his visit to the scene, the governor was saddened by the extent of the damage and called for divine intervention to help those affected.
To investigate the cause of the fire and assess the damage, the governor announced the establishment of a seven-member committee. He was joined by state political leaders and dignitaries during his visit to the site, where he emphasized the need for caution during the harmattan season, which poses a higher risk of fire incidents due to its windy conditions.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu assured the public of his administration’s dedication to protecting lives and property. He commended the quick and brave actions of the Sokoto State Fire Service and residents in controlling the fire.
In response to the incident, the governor set up a committee to investigate the fire’s origins, evaluate the extent of the destruction, identify affected traders, and propose assistance measures. The committee, comprising various individuals, including a police representative, has been given three weeks to present its findings and suggestions.
The victims of the fire and members of the Timber Sellers Association appreciated the governor’s swift response and assistance during this challenging period.
