The Anambra State House of Assembly is mourning the passing of a former Deputy Speaker, Ikechukwu Oseke, who tragically died at the age of 64. Oseke collapsed during his morning exercise at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the Anambra State capital, and was pronounced dead after being rushed to a hospital.
Born in 1960 in Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Oseke represented Awka South 2 Constituency at the State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2019 under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, eventually becoming the Deputy Speaker. Speaker of the Anambra State Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, expressed deep sorrow over Oseke’s sudden passing, describing it as a great loss to the legislative body.
Udeze praised Oseke for his impactful service, generous nature, and legislative skills, noting his contributions to community development and empowerment projects. The Speaker extended condolences to Oseke’s family, urging them to continue his legacy of service and dedication to both God and humanity. Oseke, who also vied for a position in the House of Representatives, transitioned to the freight forwarding business in Rivers State and pursued further education in law and public administration.
He is survived by his wife, children, and other loved ones.
