The All Progressives Congress criticized the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for his recent remarks on the presidency, accusing him of behaving irresponsibly as an opposition figure. Obi claimed that there were more individuals involved in fraudulent activities within President Bola Tinubu’s government, labeling them as ‘Yahoo boys’, than there were young Nigerians facing arrest for similar crimes. Speaking at the fourth graduation ceremony of Nexford University, Obi highlighted the prevalence of corruption among government officials in Nigeria.
In response to Obi’s comments, the National Publicity Director of the APC, Bala Ibrahim, expressed disappointment in the unsubstantiated allegations made by Obi. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of providing evidence to support such claims and criticized Obi for his reckless behavior. He stated that opposition parties should focus on constructively criticizing the government’s actions and policies rather than making baseless accusations.
Ibrahim highlighted the role of the opposition in holding the government accountable and suggested that Obi and the Labour Party lacked a clear understanding of their responsibilities. He underscored the need for opposition parties to offer constructive criticism and maintain a focused approach to their role in governance.
