Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has urged newly elected local government executives of the All Progressives Congress to conduct themselves with integrity and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aliyu gave the charge on Saturday in Bodinga Local Government Area, where he concluded his tour to monitor the party’s local government congresses held in Sokoto South Local Government Area, Wamakko Local Government Area and Bodinga Local Government Area.
The congresses, conducted by consensus across the state’s 23 local government areas, produced 27 executives per council to steer the affairs of the ruling party at the grassroots.
“I am satisfied with the arrangements made in all the areas I visited, as well as the maturity exhibited by the delegates,” the governor said.
He commended the party’s national secretariat for deploying competent officials to supervise the exercise, noting that the peaceful conduct of the congress underscored unity and cohesion within the party in the state.
Aliyu assured the new executives of government support but reminded them that discipline, transparency and loyalty to party ideals would be critical to consolidating the APC’s hold on the state.
“We must renew our dedication and commitment to take the APC to greater heights. The party in Sokoto remains united and strong,” he added.
Also speaking, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, lauded the governor for what he described as people-oriented projects being executed across the state.
“Mr Governor, you have taken us by surprise because you are doing much more than we expected,” Dingyadi said, urging residents to sustain their support for APC-led administrations at both federal and state levels.
He tasked the newly elected officials in Bodinga to justify the confidence reposed in them by working to secure more votes for the party in 2027.
The State APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida, congratulated the executives and urged them to work tirelessly for the growth of the party.
According to him, the achievements recorded by the Aliyu administration across sectors provide a strong foundation for electoral success if effectively communicated to the electorate.
In Sokoto South LGA, Hayatu Muhammad emerged as Chairman, Yakubu Dauda Indiye as Vice Chairman and Hamza Atiku as Secretary.
Wamakko LGA elected Alhaji Umaru Nabara as Chairman, Alhaji Masarana Wamakko as Vice Chairman and Sani Aliyu Maisango as Secretary.
In Bodinga LGA, Isa Aliyu was elected Chairman, Ahmed Tsoho as Vice Chairman and Alhaji Umar Aliyu Dingyadi as Secretary.
The governor was accompanied on the monitoring tour by the member representing Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency, Ahmed Abdullahi Kalambaina; the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa; the Chief of Staff, Aminu Haliru Dikko; and other senior government officials and party stakeholders.
The APC congress in Sokoto comes amid early political realignments across states as parties begin groundwork for the 2027 general elections, with grassroots structures seen as critical to mobilising voter support.
