The Zamfara State chapter of a political party has urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state to enhance the fight against banditry. The party accused the state governor of hindering the government’s efforts through media campaigns. They commended the ongoing military operations against bandits in the region and emphasized the need to sustain these efforts.
The party criticized the governor for allegedly not prioritizing security since assuming office. They praised the directives given to the Minister of State for Defence, which have led to successful operations against the bandits.
In response, the state government’s Director-General of Media and Communications dismissed the party’s call for a state of emergency as baseless. He pointed out past actions of the former governor that allegedly supported the bandits, questioning the credibility of the party’s stance on the matter.
