Bandits’ influx: Task force meets as police, Amotekun tighten S’West boundaries

Following Governor Seyi Makinde’s concerns regarding the increasing presence of bandits in Oyo State, security measures in the South-West region have been heightened. Security agencies such as the police, Amotekun, and military are collaborating more closely to address this security threat. An emergency meeting was held by Oyo State security chiefs to strategize on combatting the issue.

Governor Makinde emphasized the government’s determination to eradicate the bandits who were seeking refuge in the state. He urged the military to intensify efforts against terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry during a recent event. Additionally, the Oyo State Security Network Agency is conducting investigations in response to the Governor’s alert.

Other states like Ondo and Lagos are also taking proactive steps to secure their borders and prevent the infiltration of bandits. The Osun Amotekun Corps is focusing on safeguarding vulnerable areas and forests to prevent criminal activities. Furthermore, Chief Gani Adams has called on South-West governors to prioritize security concerns and take decisive actions to address them promptly.
