Bayelsa not a single-economy state, says govt

The government of Bayelsa State has refuted claims that the state relies solely on one product for its economy. They highlight the diverse natural resources present in the state, such as fish and fertile land suitable for cultivating rice, palm oil, plantain, and other crops on a large scale. During a meeting with a delegation from NEXIM Bank, led by Soni Oseghale, the South-South Regional Head, the Deputy Governor emphasized the state’s potential for non-oil and gas exports. He expressed interest in collaborating with the bank to tap into Bayelsa’s rich resources for exportation, aligning with the development goals of Governor Douye Diri’s administration. NEXIM Bank, in turn, expressed its willingness to work with the state government to identify and exploit non-oil resources that could be exported.
