Website and The She Tank have introduced #HerMoneyHerPower campaign to initiate a national conversation and positively influence perceptions about women’s economic influence in Nigeria through media and entertainment.
The importance of women possessing economic power in shaping an inclusive society is increasingly evident. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) contributed significantly to Nigeria’s GDP last year, with women owning a notable percentage of these businesses.
Closing the gender gap in labor markets could lead to substantial GDP growth in developing economies. Promoting women’s financial inclusion by bridging the gender financing gap could have a significant positive impact on the global economy by 2030.
Having economic power is not just about equity but also holds economic significance. Empowering women financially can lead to personal investments, family support, community development, and overall national prosperity. This emphasizes the need for a more equitable society with enhanced resources for women’s economic empowerment.
How Can We Contribute?
Over the next three months, Website and The She Tank will engage in discussions about women’s economic power, its role in promoting gender equality, and its significance in building a fairer country, using the platform of the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show.
The media’s power to initiate discussions, influence narratives, and shape society is crucial. The Big Brother Naija reality show provides insights into issues like women’s economic power, which align with our campaign’s objectives.
