Boniface recalls paying N30 to watch Champions League matches

Victor Boniface, the forward for Bayer Leverkusen and the Nigerian national team, recently shared his excitement about participating in his first Champions League match. This milestone was achieved during his team’s impressive 4-0 win against Feyenoord.

In a statement, Boniface reminisced about his humble beginnings as a football fan, mentioning how he used to pay a small fee to watch Champions League games as a youngster. Now, he is living out his dream by competing in the same prestigious tournament.

Reflecting on his journey, Boniface expressed his pride, saying, “From paying a small amount to watch the Champions League… to stepping onto the field for my first Champions League match. Proud of this moment.”

It’s noteworthy that Bayer Leverkusen acquired Boniface from Union SG to join their ranks in 2023, sealing the deal for a substantial sum exceeding €21.7 million.

Looking ahead, Leverkusen is set to face Wolfsburg in their upcoming match as they strive to defend the Bundesliga title they claimed last season, breaking Bayern Munich’s 11-year streak of consecutive league victories.
